The Engineering Team at Fairfield Engineering Solutions (FES) has been successfully delivering bespoke moving bridge projects and bridge control systems for over 30 years. With experience in design, delivery, commissioning and life-cycle maintenance, the team has worked on some of the UK’s most iconic Moving Bridges.
With our multi-disciplined engineering team, we can add value to projects with coordination of the design and delivery of the all, or any part, of the following:
- Structural & civil interfaces
- Mechanical drive systems (hydraulic or electrical)
- Bridge control systems
- Jacks, wedges, resting blocks and locking pins
- Traffic control (barriers, wig wags and gates)
- Navigation lights
- CCTV & PA systems
All aspects of our designs are viewed objectively to establish the best solution commercially and technically, utilising equipment and solutions that are best suited to the user in respect to safety, reliability and operational practicality.
All Shapes and Sizes
Moving bridges come in many shapes and sizes and often require bespoke solutions for their safe and reliable operation. Our engineers have provided solutions on the many variants of bridge types, including:
- Hydraulic motor driven bascule bridges
- Hydraulic ram operated lifting bridges
- Electric motor and gear driven lifting bridges
- Electric motor driven swing bridges
- Hydraulic motor driven swing bridges
- Winched swing bridges
- Winched deck bridges
- Winched lift bridges
- Winched draw bridges
We are able to provide a solution, no matter what stage of its life cycle the bridge is in; from initial design and implementation of a new system, the appraisal and improvement of an existing system, to the replacement of an ageing or obsolete system.
Service Support & Frameworks
Availability of a moving bridge is paramount, and the inability of a bridge to operate when required could have serious safety, financial and representational consequences. In order to further support our customers, we offer tailored service and framework agreements, comprising of routine preventative maintenance and emergency 24/7 365 day response. Dependent upon specification, our systems are supplied with the ability to be remotely accessed, especially in the waterways sector, as assets are often located in hard to reach area’s – some even becoming inaccessible under certain conditions.
