Engineering Apprenticeships at FAIRFIELDS.

For over 25 years, our apprenticeship programme has helped shape our business. Today, apprentices and former apprentices make up around 40% of our workforce, rising to almost 45% within engineering roles. This reflects the value we place on developing talent and building long-term careers.

Real experience from day one.
At FAIRFIELDS, apprentices are involved in live projects from the start.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across:
- Technical drawings and CAD modelling
- Functional design specifications
- On-site engineering and commissioning
Projects span high-profile and complex environments, including flood defence schemes, moving bridges, manufacturing facilities and roller coasters.
Degree apprenticeships
We offer Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Software Engineering
- ICT Systems Support
- Digital Marketing
You’ll be supported by an in-house mentor while studying at university through day or block release. With all fees covered, you’ll earn while you learn — gaining a degree without student debt.
Your role as an apprentice.
Depending on your pathway, you will:
- Design and commission industrial automation and control systems
- Develop software using emerging technologies such as IoT and AR
- Support IT infrastructure and networks
- Deliver marketing and communications to support business growth
Whichever route you choose, you’ll contribute to some of the UK’s most iconic and technically challenging engineering projects.
Training and development
As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards:
- BEng Engineering – Sheffield Hallam University
- BSc Computer Science – Sheffield Hallam University
- BA Digital Marketing – Nottingham Trent University
Alongside academic study, you’ll gain experience across design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and support — building a complete understanding of engineering delivery.
