Managing the Risk of Obsolescence Event

Fairfields hosted an event at our Head Office in Retford, along with our colleagues at Rockwell Automation on ‘Migration and the Risk of Obsolescence in Rockwell Control and Safety Systems’. This is our first event since moving to our new premises and we hope it will be the first of many. We welcomed attendees from many sectors, including energy providers, theme parks, waterways and the steel industry. Topic discussed included:

Rockwell lifecycle status Covering PLC5 and SLC Controllers, this session identified the critical hardware you have on-site and gave a better understanding of the support and spares currently available. Moving forward This session introduced a number of low-risk approaches to safeguard continued operation and gave guidance to ensure your plant and equipment are supportable into the future. Q&A Delegates were able to give details of the hardware they had on site and gave an opportunity to discuss them with a Rockwell or Fairfields Engineer.

Conversion A guide to the steps involved in the conversion of an end-of-life PLC5 system or aging SLC controller to the modern equivalent CompactLogix or ControlLogix system and advice on updating the visualisation software including RSView32
