New Islington Marina Pedestrian Bascule Bridge

Tuesday, June 21st, 2022

Our Project Manager Ross Milward and his team are on-site at New Islington Marina providing operator training for lifting the pedestrian bascule bridge.  This bridge was installed to maintain pedestrian access to the marina and creates a link to Ancoats on the northern edge of Manchester city centre. It has been dormant for ten years whilst the area surrounding the marina has been developed. We have worked closely with Plumlife Property Management to refurbish and upgrade the M&E systems of the bridge. Works commenced replacing/refurbishing the hydraulics, motors and electrical systems back in January 2022. This also allows additional mooring berths in the marina off the Ashton Canal. Completed in June, It’s a pleasure to see the bridge brought back to life after a decade

We’ve also recently carried out the refurbishment and repair of 2 manually operated swing bridges in the same marina for Plumlife. These included pintle bearing inspection and maintenance, together with the inspection, maintenance and refurbishment of tail rail, wheel and improved general operation.

“I am very pleased with the works that Ross and the Team from Fairfields have done at the marina.  ” Bilal A Aziz, Property Manager, Plumlife Property Management
