In line with our continuing expansion at Fairfield Engineering Solutions, we are looking to strengthen our team with the addition of a Project Planner. This position offers the chance to engage in prominent turnkey M&E projects spanning various sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out the framework that guides a project’s progression from inception to completion. You’ll identify and segregate different tasks that make up a project; setting milestones and deadlines, and monitoring progress to the end goal.
The Role
Key Purpose: To develop, manage and maintain project programs in pre and post contract award phases, in line with contract and commercial requirements.
- Ensure that a project is completed efficiently and on time, while staying within budget constraints.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules that detail tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
- Collaborate with construction teams on-site and other relevant professionals throughout the project lifecycles.
- Monitor Project Management timelines and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.
- Identify areas for improvement and recommend program efficiencies.
- As part of the planning role, collaborate with clients throughout various stages of the project life cycle.
- Work in close partnership with the Pre-Contract Team to develop programs for submission with bids/tenders.
- During construction phase, work in close partnership with the Engineering Director or Project Manager to strategically plan and schedule major projects using your preferred planning program MSP/P6.
- Where required support the Commercial Team to keep meticulous records of project resources, changes, labour and expenses, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to the maintenance a contract risk register, reviewing project risks and escalating where appropriate.
- Working as directed by the Management.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ practical engineering/construction experience.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant industry planning role.
- Ideally Degree qualified with relevant professional engineering/construction related qualifications
- Ideally from a structural, fabrication and M&E systems background.
- Proven engineering experience, particularly in planning complex and technically demanding construction projects.
- Adept with Project Planning Software Tools such as MSP, Primavera P6, or other relevant scheduling software, capable of creating detailed project schedules, master schedules, and comprehensive reports.
- This customer-facing position will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work to procedures in detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly motivated and disciplined
- Full UK driving licence
