National Apprenticeship Week 2020
3rd to 9th February is National Apprenticeship Week 2020 – a campaign Fairfields is proud to support annually. Fairfields has been running its own successful Apprenticeship programme for almost 20 years and apprentices are a key component to the company’s 33 years of success. Almost half of Fairfields workforce is made up of former or current apprentices – we appreciate and value the knowledge, insight and expertise they each bring to the business and view apprentices as a long-term asset to the company.
This week, to help promote National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we will be participating in a number of local events promoting apprenticeships and we will be sharing posts from our current apprentices to give an insight on what you can expect from an Apprenticeship at Fairfields. This coincides with the launch this year’s recruitment campaign to find our next group of future engineers. If you are interested in applying for an apprenticeship, complete our online application form. Our 3 year apprenticeship programme provides day release to college and/or university, and enables apprentices to access education up to degree level without the need for a student loan. We provide sponsorship throughout the apprenticeship and pay tuition fees as well as a salary. We provide on-going support and mentoring throughout the programme to ensure apprentices are on-track to becoming qualified engineers.
Our first event for #NAW2020 is tomorrow (Tuesday 4th February) where we have a stand at Bassetlaw District Council’s ‘What Next Apprenticeships’ pop up event at The Well in Retford. Come and meet Ben, Emma and James – all 3 are either former or current apprentices so have a real understanding of life as an apprentice at Fairfields. Ben was the first Fairfields Apprentice almost 20 years ago and is now a Lead Design Engineer and Mentoring Champion. Emma joined Fairfields as an Apprentice in 2012 and is now an Applications Engineer and was a former winner of the Regional Higher Apprentice of the Year in 2014. James is one of our most recent recruits and has been an apprentice at Fairfields for approximately 6 months.
