Fairfields become an IET Enterprise Partner
Fairfield Control Systems has now become an IET Enterprise Partner, which provides UK based SME’s with the opportunity to engage with the engineering community and access an array of staff development tools. By becoming an Enterprise Partner, Fairfields is committed to the continued development of their engineers and have agreed to fund their IET memberships as part of their overall benefits package. We will also arrange for a mentor to regular visit the business for individual sessions to guide each engineer through registration.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a professional home for life for all Engineers and Technicians. They are the UK’s largest professional institution for Engineers and Technicians and currently have around 168,000 members across 150 countries. By becoming members of the IET, all Engineers and Technicians have the opportunity to become professionally registered, from EngTech to CEng.
Professional registration is awarded by licensed bodies who represent the Engineering Council and is based on knowledge, competence and commitment to professionalism. Gaining registration status is an importance milestone for any Engineer or Technician and shows their peers and employers that they have demonstrated a commitment to professional standards and to developing and enhancing competence.
There are also many benefits for our employers to become Professionally Registered which include:
- Recognition as a professional in their field
- Improved self-motivation, career opportunities and salary prospects
- Greater influence within their organisation and industry
- Confirmation that they are highly competent in their field
- Improved connection with innovative, influential and inspirational people
- International recognition of their qualifications.
As part of the partnership the IET performed an introductory presentation at our head office to explain the membership benefits, how to apply and reasons to become professionally registered. This has been a great success so far as many of our employees have now signed up to become members and registered their intent to become professionally registered.
Joshua Goodwin, Graduate Engineer has just signed up to the IET through the partnership he says:
With Fairfields as a partner of the IET, I feel supported in my professional development and my progression towards becoming a chartered engineer
