E.on Water Treatment
The Water Treatment plant was installed in 1998 by the original contractors using a Siemens S5 platform with a local SCADA. The plant produces deionised water from town water for use in the gas turbine to generate electricity. Fairfields won the contract to upgrade the obsolete S5 to a new Siemens S7 platform and integrate it with the existing SCADA. Using the drawings and the original uncommented PLC code, Fairfields created a new commented version of the PLC code for the S7 platform and modified and enhanced the existing SCADA system.
Corus Water Treatment
The existing water treatment plant worked on a dual rotating cam system. As the cams rotated it switched relays in and out to control plant that produced deionised water from town water for use in the boilers which supplied superheated steam to the furnace. The system difficult to fault find and unreliable in its current state, and Fairfields installed a ControlLogix PLC system with a RSview 32 SCADA system to control and monitor the plant. The SCADA system enable data collected from the plant to be trended, which assisted the operator in the running of the plant and maintenance of the system.
