Factory Automation

Fairfields provide control and automation systems into factories and production facilities across the UK and worldwide. Our engineers have delivered a number of systems for factory automation into many industries, including:

  • Food and Beverage
  • Pet Care
  • Glass
  • Life Sciences
  • Aggregates
  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Metals
  • Paper

The engineers at Fairfields have been responsible for delivering projects of all sizes from small OEM machine systems to safety upgrades and large automated production lines. Solutions used within these projects include:

We combine control engineering and ICT disciplines to allow us to deliver turnkey projects, providing data analytics, remote monitoring and mobility. This can often include the systems on the factory floor being connected to the manufacturing intelligence systems and the enterprise level using secure networks.

Machine Safety

Whilst striving toward continual improvement targets in manufacturing, process efficiency and productivity, it is imperative that we don’t lose sight of the importance of machine safety.  Our TUV Qualified Safety Engineers work closely with our clients when developing new or upgrading ageing systems to understand the operation and maintenance procedures and ensure the affects to these are minimal when implementing a safety system.

Far from being considered an extra but necessary hurdle required to drive output, integrated safety can be used, not just to protect personnel and equipment from injury and harm, but can re-enforce good practice and help to minimise periods of inactivity through unsafe operations.

The Connected Enterprise

The Internet of Things (IoT), particularly Industry 4.0, is changing engineering approaches with the vision of “smart factories”. More and more of our clients are starting to recognise the importance of making the right information available to the right people at the right time, such as energy usage, plant performance, alarms, etc. This allows better and more informed decisions leading to improved plant performance.

We are working with our clients to remove the barriers between their IT and Engineering departments. We combine control engineering and ICT disciplines to allow us to deliver turnkey projects, providing data analytics, remote monitoring and mobility. This can often include the systems on the factory floor being connected to the manufacturing intelligence systems and the enterprise level using secure networks.
