Electric Overhead Travlling (EOT) Crane

The 10t EOT Package Handling Crane project is a turnkey project used to provide a remote facility for the retrieval and packaging of waste into 3m³ drums during the decommissioning of Hunterston A Power Station. The package handling crane is an Electric Overhead Travelling double girder with a top running crab, rated for a safe working load of 10 tonnes suspended from a grapple fixture. The long travel range is approximately 14 metres and +/- 100mm cross traverse to ensure accurate positioning.

All crane movements are controlled by a Telemecanique Premium PLC with Advantys remote I/O. Telemecanique Altivar 71 Variable Speed Drives are used in closed loop configuration to control each crane axis electric drive motor via the PLC over a CANopen communication network.
