Our People

Investors-in-People logo squareFairfields is proud to be an ‘Investor in People’ company and is working to help bridge the engineering skills gap in the UK with successful and on-going apprenticeship and graduate programmes.

Professional Development

Fairfields are committed to ensuring that our high calibre personnel are committed to the company’s mission of creating exceptional performance. Professional development and employee retention underpin the success of our company and are regarded as being one of the most significant factors in the success of the company. It is essential to ensure that our engineers receive regular training to stay up to date with ever-changing and new technologies.

Due to the very varied nature of the work, our engineers must be highly flexible and committed to providing the best possible service. Many of the contracts we are awarded are unique and the first of their kind. This means that there is often no historic data to use and so development of a control system has to start from scratch, an example of this is the Gateshead Millennium Bridge or ‘Blinking Eye’. The tilting bridge is totally unique and so no other previous bridge control data was relevant. In this kind of environment the need for idea generation and innovation is crucial.
